Adam is an aspiring footballer who attends the Stoke City Premiership Academy. MJ lives in the shadow of Wimbledon and wants to be the next Serena Williams. My Life: Reaching for the Top tells the story of the sacrifices and struggles they and their families are making for them to continue on their quest to play sport at the highest level. Looking at what it takes to be the best, this film explores the impact their commitment has on school, friendships and family. Competition is fierce and only the very best survive at the Academy. Can Adam play well enough to have his contract renewed? Will MJ and her Mum’s sacrifices be enough to keep her at the top of her game? Or will they be forced to make further sacrifices to keep on reaching for the top?
